We invite you to step back time and take a journey around our collection of self-guided tours, showcasing some of the area's architectural gems. This growing collection of tours capture the details of the buildings for future generations, as well as for our enjoyment now.
Here we also showcase some of the buildings that form part of the intriguing Dudley and Brierley Hill Architectural trails.
Please note, the tours show the buildings as they are now (they might be working offices, or closed and unused spaces) they are not museums.
Heritage Open Days
Every year Dudley Council takes part in Heritage Open Days, it is England's largest community led festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.
There is always lots to explore, particularly in Dudley Town Centre and Brierley Hill where we showcase some of the buildings included in our Townscape Heritage Project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and in Brierley Hill, through the Brierley Hill High Street Heritage Action Zone as well as Historic England and Brierley Hill Community Forum. The event is a celebration of our local architecture and culture, where venues not usually open to the public allow access.
